We are delighted to announce our funding recipients from August 2023. 64 organisations received over £2.5M to support their work to alleviate poverty and trauma across Scotland.

£2,581,000 was awarded to 64 organisations in August 2023, with a success rate of 82%. If you would like to receive our award announcements directly to your inbox, please sign up to our mailing list.

Currently, our funding is aimed at constituted community groups and registered charities who are working to alleviate poverty and trauma in Scotland, and who have an annual income of under £2 million. We have four funds under our strategy: Wee Grants, Small Grants, Large Grants, and Community Vehicles. Each of these funds is designed to be clear, transparent and accessible to meet the needs of those we fund and potential applicants, and make sure our funding is targeted. Each of the organisations below demonstrated in their application how their work is contributing to the alleviation of poverty and trauma in Scotland.

Award Focus - SAY Women

"SAY Women, based in Glasgow is the only charity in the UK which offers safe accommodation and support services to young women aged 16-25 who are survivors of sexual abuse, rape or sexual assault and who are homeless, or threatened with homelessness.

We provide dedicated semi supported accommodation alongside critical emotional and trauma informed support services (both group and 121).   In addition we provide specialist training and tenancy sustainment - helping women move towards their own tenancy.  We also work with partners to deliver much needed social and wellbeing activities for our young women." Sam Barnett, Chair of SAY Women.

What our team says... "With over 35 years experience, SAY Women have a unique understanding and knowledge of helping to address the root causes of poverty and complex trauma with young women.  Their work is a strong fit with our Emotional Wellbeing and Relationships theme, where we are interested in work that empowers women and girls affected by poverty and trauma. Their approach is holistic and very much centred on building up resilience and wellbeing of women, working alongside them to support them to make informed decisions about their lives.

There is much that we can learn from SAY Women's approach and we are delighted to be supporting their work over the next three years, where we can continue to listen to their insights and expertise to help shape and focus our own work." Simon Denny, Funding Officer.
