Recruitment: External members for key governance committees

We are recruiting for individuals to join two of our key governance committees as independent members. These roles offer the opportunity to bring your expertise to an organisation committed to preventing and reducing poverty and trauma across Scotland.

The Robertson Trust is seeking three individuals to join two of our key governance committees as independent members.

We are looking to appoint:

  • 1 independent member to our Governance, Nominations, Remuneration and Finance Committee (GNRF)

  • 2 independent members to our Audit and Risk Committee

Our Board, chaired by Morag McNeill from January 2025, delegates detailed governance matters to five Committees. Independent members play a vital role on these Committees, offering external insight and constructive challenge to support both Trustees and the executive team. While not members of the Board, they contribute significantly to the Trust’s work and decision-making processes.

About the Committees

  • The Audit and Risk Committee oversees internal controls and risk management, supported by internal and external auditors. It reviews the Trust’s financial statements and monitors governance and operational risks.
  • The GNRF Committee leads on governance, board effectiveness, senior appointments and remuneration. It also scrutinises financial matters, including management accounts, delegated authorities and policies.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from those with senior-level experience in complex organisations and expertise in one or more of the following areas: finance, audit, risk or governance.

  • For the GNRF Committee, we are looking for someone with strong financial acumen and a relevant qualification, who can contribute to both financial oversight and broader organisational development.

  • For the Audit and Risk Committee, we seek individuals with senior experience in audit, risk, or governance. This may include qualified accountants or professionals with internal/external audit expertise in large or complex organisations.

You don’t need to have worked in the third sector, and you don’t need to be based in Scotland. We’re looking for people who align with our values of ambition, integrity, connection, and equity, and who are committed to our mission to drive social change.
