VAT Seminar for Third Sector Organisations in Scotland

Please note that The Robertson Trust has published its new Giving Strategy. This sets out the priorities we will have when awarding funds through our open grants programme. The existing application form and guidelines can still be used until July 31st. In line with our existing procedures, we will aim to assess and present all applications received by this date to our September Board meeting. In the event that we are unable to do so, your application may be held until our November meeting. In such cases a member of staff will contact you and provide any assistance required to realign your application with the new Giving Strategy. Find out all you need to know here.

Who is running the event?

Iain Masterton, Director of VAT at Chiene and Tait, will be running the seminar at Robertson House on Monday, 5th February from 10am until 12pm

Iain has been practicing VAT for 20 years and has worked with a number of firms in the UK, including 2 Big Four firms. He has advised a wide range of clients including blue chip international companies, international businesses, educational institutions and local Scottish charities.

Charity VAT is one of Iain's specialisms and he has represented a number of charities in disputes with HMRC. He also contributes articles to national newspapers, tax periodicals and is a regular speaker on VAT matters at conferences and seminars.

Who is the event for?

The seminar is particularly aimed at charities who are undertaking new build capital projects and have a need to understand the VAT implications to enable appropriate structures to be put into place.

It will also be of interest to larger charities who wish to develop a stronger understanding of VAT and how best to manage it. All attendees are encouraged to think of particular questions/issues concerned with VAT that they would like to be addressed on the day.
