Hosts sought for latest Internship Scheme

Please note that The Robertson Trust has published its new Giving Strategy. This sets out the priorities we will have when awarding funds through our open grants programme. The existing application form and guidelines can still be used until July 31st. In line with our existing procedures, we will aim to assess and present all applications received by this date to our September Board meeting. In the event that we are unable to do so, your application may be held until our November meeting. In such cases a member of staff will contact you and provide any assistance required to realign your application with the new Giving Strategy. Find out all you need to know here.

The Robertson Trust is once again looking for employers across Scotland who could benefit from hosting an intern next summer and, as a result, help Robertson scholars gain valuable workplace experience.

The Summer Internship Scheme is fully funded by The Robertson Trust, with scholars receiving £910 per month over the course of eight weeks, and attempts to match third year scholars with placements related to their areas of study and interest.

Established three years ago, the 2017 programme received 100% positive feedback from interns and hosts, and this year we have a record number of scholars seeking placements for summer 2018.

Who are the Robertson scholars?

Since 1992, The Robertson Trust has identified and assisted over 1000 high-achieving young Scots who have the ability, but not necessarily the means to get the most out of a university education. At our most recent graduation, 88% of scholars graduated with a classification of 2:1 or above, significantly higher than the 2015/16 national average of 73% (HESA). There are now 545 scholars studying across 47 different subjects.

As well as receiving a bursary from the Trust, all Robertson scholars participate in Journey to Success, a personal development and training programme designed to build self-confidence, presentation skills and other career-related qualities. As part of this programme, all potential interns have completed employability workshops and are therefore able to provide professional CVs for employers.

How to get involved

There are potentially 120 third year scholars who will require an internship in summer 2018.

With degree subjects ranging from Economics to Music, Veterinary Medicine to Interior and Spatial Design, we’re keen to hear from any employer that may benefit from hosting one of the country’s brightest talents for eight weeks. Register your interest by emailing or calling us on 0141 353 7300.

Please also feel free to share our Summer Internship flyer which provides a breakdown of key information with any interest parties. This can be downloaded here.
