In 1992, a sister charity, The Robertson Scholarship Trust was established and initially assisted young students with exceptional ability to improve their skills at well-known centres of excellence throughout the world.
In 1995, a pilot scheme was established to award bursaries to young people from Glasgow schools with the ability, but not necessarily the financial means, to attend university.
The pilot scheme was such a success that it has grown over the past 20 years and there are now over several hundred students currently attending university in receipt of bursaries. From the outset, the primary objective of the Bursary Scheme was to help young people aged 16-25 to gain an education and improve their future employability.
We also work in partnership with Scottish universities and are interested in strengthening links with widening participation programmes across Scotland. Currently, all applications are made through Scottish secondary schools and universities.
At the heart of our bursary awards, is a dedicated training and mentoring programme called "Journey to Success", devised to ensure scholars are able to maximise their potential at university and compete successfully for graduate level jobs.
Once applicants have met our eligibility criteria they are expected to demonstrate a clear committment to their ongoing personal development.
