Summer Internships 2019 - What’s it like to host a Robertson Scholar?

Please note that The Robertson Trust has published its new Giving Strategy. This sets out the priorities we will have when awarding funds through our open grants programme. The existing application form and guidelines can still be used until July 31st. In line with our existing procedures, we will aim to assess and present all applications received by this date to our September Board meeting. In the event that we are unable to do so, your application may be held until our November meeting. In such cases a member of staff will contact you and provide any assistance required to realign your application with the new Giving Strategy. Find out all you need to know here.

Earlier this week, we launched our search for Summer Internship hosts across Scotland. The scheme sees third-year Robertson Scholar undertake a fully-funded, two-month summer placement with a host organisation (related to the student's area of interest) in order to gain valuable work-place experience. Similarly, feedback over recent years has highlighted the benefits of hosting, with our survey last year showing a 100% satisfaction rating from all employers who took part.

With this in mind, we have spoken to Roland Bone from Barclays, who has been involved with the Summer Internship Scheme for the past three years, to find out more about his experiences.
