New vacancy at The Robertson Trust

Please note that The Robertson Trust has published its new Giving Strategy. This sets out the priorities we will have when awarding funds through our open grants programme. The existing application form and guidelines can still be used until July 31st. In line with our existing procedures, we will aim to assess and present all applications received by this date to our September Board meeting. Finance Assistant

  • Salary: £19,584 pro rata 
  • Hours: 21 hours / 3 days per week  
  • Location: Glasgow

The Robertson Trust is seeking to hire a Finance Assistant with broad financial processing experience to join its small finance team and to assist in maintaining accurate and up to date financial records. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Purchase ledger 
  • Process purchase ledger invoices, ensuring they are correctly authorised and coded 
  • Monthly supplier reconciliations 
  • Preparation of ledger for monthly payment runs 
  • Dealing with queries 
  • Sales ledger 
  • Calculate and process weekly catering charges 
  • Raise room hire and catering invoices  
  • Calculate quarterly service charges payable by tenants 
  • Dealing with queries 
  • Debt collection 
  • Grant payments 
  • Process grant payment runs on both accounting and banking software 
  • Process scholar payments as required 
  • Bank 
  • Weekly bank reconciliations 
  • Process ad hoc payments as required 
  • General 
  • Process employee expenses 
  • Ad hoc financial processing, reconciling and reporting as required 

Person Specification 

Essential 

  • Methodical, with strong attention to detail 
  • Experience processing sales and/or purchase invoices and batch payments in computerised accounting system 
  • Proficient in basic Excel use 
  • An ability to work well with both finance and non-finance colleagues 
  • Experience dealing with suppliers and customers, resolving problems while maintaining good relationships 

Preferable 

  • Experience with Sage 50 or similar 
  • Experience dealing with tenants 

Benefits 

  • Salary: £19,584 (pro rata) 
  • Annual increments: Potential for annual increments, depending on employee performance, in addition to any cost of living allowance increases 
  • Holidays: 35 days per calendar year (pro rata) 
  • Pension: 10% employer contribution (if no employee contribution) or 14% employer contribution (if employee contribution is at least 7%) 
  • Death in Service: 4 x salary or 8 x salary if employee contribution to pension at least 7%

  • Annual travel pass loan: Available to spread the cost of commuting to work
