Please note that The Robertson Trust has published its new Giving Strategy. This sets out the priorities we will have when awarding funds through our open grants programme. The existing application form and guidelines can still be used until July 31st. In line with our existing procedures, we will aim to assess and present all applications received by this date to our September Board meeting. In the event that we are unable to do so, your application may be held until our November meeting. In such cases a member of staff will contact you and provide any assistance required to realign your application with the new Giving Strategy. Find out all you need to know here.
We are delighted to announce the appointment of an interim leadership team while the search for a new Chief Executive continues.
Lesley Macdonald and Kenneth Osborne will act as joint chief executives, sharing the responsibility of leading the Trust’s response to the Covid-19 crisis, preparing for the launch and implementation of a new strategy in September 2020 and the ongoing work to support communities and individuals across Scotland.
Both take up the new position in addition to their existing roles on the Trust’s Senior Management Team.
Lesley Macdonald is currently our Head of Giving. She joined the Trust in 2002 and brings her extensive leadership qualities and knowledge of the funding landscape to the role of interim chief executive. She has been instrumental to the development of the new strategy and will use her knowledge of the third sector to lead the Trust’s engagement with key stakeholders as well as the wider positioning of the Trust.
Kenneth Osborne is our Head of Finance and Resources, having joined the Trust in 2017. With extensive knowledge of the third sector and a proven track record of strong leadership he will take up the role alongside Lesley with immediate effect. Kenneth’s focus in the weeks and months ahead will be on the finalisation of the implementation plans for our new strategy, business and financial plans.
Speaking ahead of the appointment, Shonaig Macpherson, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said: “I am pleased that Lesley and Kenneth have taken up the invitation to lead the Trust while the recruitment of our new chief executive continues. They take up the roles at an incredibly challenging time for the third sector and wider civil society, but I am confident that under their joint leadership, we will be in a strong position to continue supporting communities and individuals across Scotland.
“As we respond to the immediate needs of the sector as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, we are also looking ahead to ensure our new strategy is flexible, and resilient, to the needs of communities and people across Scotland. Lesley and Kenneth will be integral to this work and I look forward to working with them both, under their joint leadership.”
