Hosts sought for 2019 Summer Internship Scheme

Please note that The Robertson Trust has published its new Giving Strategy. This sets out the priorities we will have when awarding funds through our open grants programme. The existing application form and guidelines can still be used until July 31st. In line with our existing procedures, we will aim to assess and present all applications received by this date to our September Board meeting. In the event that we are unable to do so, your application may be held until our November meeting. In such cases a member of staff will contact you and provide any assistance required to realign your application with the new Giving Strategy. Find out all you need to know here.

Could your organisation benefit from hosting an intern?

We are once again looking for organisations to host some of Scotland's most talented young people by getting involved with our Summer Internship Scheme.

The scheme was established in 2014 to help current third year Robertson scholars enhance their CV and gain valuable experience in the workplace before entering their final year of university. Internships last two months and are fully funded by The Robertson Trust, with the intern receiving £910 per month.

This year, there are potentially 160 third year scholars who will require an internship in summer 2019. If you are interested in hosting a Robertson Scholar, please send a short job description to scholars@therobertsontrust.org.uk by Friday 21st December or contact us to find out more. Please also specify if there are particular degree courses you are interested in supporting and we can help find the best match.

You can view interviews with previous interns and hosts here.

Who are Robertson scholars?

Since 1992, The Robertson Trust has identified and assisted over 1000 high-achieving young Scots who have the ability, but not necessarily the means to get get the most out of a university education.

As well as receiving a bursary from the Trust, all Robertson scholars participate in Journey to Success, a personal development and training programme designed to build self-confidence, presentation skills and other career related qualities.
