Over £2.1M awarded to organisations across Scotland in March and April

We are delighted to announce our funding recipients from March and April 2024. 68 organisations received over £2.1M to support their work to alleviate poverty and trauma across Scotland.

£2,155,750 was awarded to 68 organisations in March and April 2024, with a success rate of 67%. If you would like to receive our award announcements directly to your inbox, please sign up to our mailing list.

Currently, our funding is aimed at constituted community groups and registered charities who are working to alleviate poverty and trauma in Scotland, and who have an annual income of under £2 million. We have four funds under our strategy: Wee Grants, Small Grants, Large Grants, and Community Vehicles. Each of these funds is designed to be clear, transparent and accessible to meet the needs of those we fund and potential applicants, and make sure our funding is targeted. If you would like to find out more about our funds, please click here.

Each of the organisations below demonstrated in their application how their work is contributing to the alleviation of poverty and trauma in Scotland.

Award Focus - Street Soccer Scotland

"Street Soccer Scotland is a sport for change organisation, using football to create positive change for those who are socially isolated and excluded, building their confidence, self-esteem and hope for the future. We believe that football is a great tool for connecting with one another, breaking down barriers and creating opportunities. With our support, people can set and achieve their goals.

The people we support face a wide range of multiple and complex challenges, and poverty and trauma often intersect with other barriers and challenges that we see. That's why it is important for us to take a person-centred and holistic approach, getting to know individuals and building up trust. We support our players through programmes, drop-in sessions and 1:1 support including mental health provision that is place-based and trauma-informed.

People’s circumstances are often complex but helping them is not. We know being part of a team can give players a sense of belonging, build confidence, create connection and improve wellbeing. Enhanced physical activity, alongside wrap-around support that creates a sense of belonging, means that we can increase the chances of positive change, and thanks to the Robertson Trust we can continue our work across Scotland." Sophie Hill, Grants and Trusts Manager

Our team says... "The work of Street Soccer Scotland is strongly aligned with our Emotional Wellbeing and Relationships theme, where we want to see a Scotland that builds stronger wellbeing and relationships for people, families, communities and with services, to maximise the potential and wellbeing of those currently held back by poverty and trauma. Street Soccer target population groups, many of whom align to issues outlined in the Hard Edges Report around homelessness, addictions and offending. Their comprehensive and holistic package of support offered helps people feel more connected with others in a safe and fun place with no stigma and at the players’ own pace. We're pleased to be continuing our support for Street Soccer over the next three years." Simon Denny, Funding Officer
