Community Sport
In 2008, the Trustees agreed to make Community Sport a Development area where the Trust would actively seek partnerships with charities looking to develop new work within this field. The key objectives are:
- To develop new models which use sport as a diversionary activity for young people who currently exhibit a range of risk taking behaviours
- To encourage better use of existing facilities and traditional sports clubs, particularly by young people, including the training and support of volunteer leaders
- To identify and develop activities which will encourage girls and young women to become more active, including leadership opportunities
- To support identified activities which will contribute to a sporting legacy from the 2014 Commonwealth Games
- To inform relevant policies within Scottish Government, Sportscotland and Health Scotland
