Funder Plus

Please note that The Robertson Trust has published its new Giving Strategy. This sets out the priorities we will have when awarding funds through our open grants programme. The existing application form and guidelines can still be used until July 31st. In line with our existing procedures, we will aim to assess and present all applications received by this date to our September Board meeting. In the event that we are unable to do so, your application may be held until our November meeting. In such cases a member of staff will contact you and provide any assistance required to realign your application with the new Giving Strategy. Find out all you need to know here.

We recognise that there are some issues which cannot be addressed solely be providing funding to charities.

As a result we offer a broader programme of ‘Funder Plus’ support to many of our funded organisations, using both internal and external expertise and resources. The aim of this is to improve capacity of third sector organisations, enabling them to increase and improve support for those people using their services.

We are currently reviewing plans for developing our in-house resources in this area. At present, Funder Plus support is offered through the following:

  • Referrals to the Cranfield Trust, which uses experienced volunteers to provide management support for our grant holders which may be around governance, financial and business planning, and Evaluation Support Scotland (ESS), which helps grant holders with various aspects of self-evaluation.These referrals will be made during a grant holder's funding period.
  • Masterclasses for current Robertson Trust grant holders. Invites to these will be sent to grant holders via email as events are scheduled.

Funder Plus is an area which we believe is of great value to the sector and we are committed to increasing our resources. Please refer to our website for ongoing developments.
